Microsoft Retires Office XP 2001 and Vista SP1

Microsoft will stop issuing security updates for 2001's Office XP and the first service pack for Windows Vista on July 12, 2011. Office XP was last patched in June's update while Vista SP1 is expected to be updated for the last time on July 12.

Vista users can continue getting updates by installing Vista SP2 through Windows Update, by manually downloading the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the service pack or upgrading to Windows 7. The best option for Office XP users is to upgrade to Microsoft Office 2010.
